The annual Newport Polar Bear Plunge returns to Easton’s Beach on New Year’s Day at noon. The event sees swimmers dive into the icy-cold waters of the Atlantic for a noble cause. All proceeds from the swim go to A Wish Come True, and organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. This year, funds will benefit trips to Disney World for two children; Riley, 14 from Warwick and Mark, 13, from Seekonk.
